What’s the difference between a driver’s license that’s been suspended vs REVOKED?

drivers license reinstatement ann arbor michigan

There are some major differences! Driver’s license
suspensions usually result from: accumulation of points, unpaid tickets, low-level criminal and driving offenses, and outstanding warrants/defaults. Driver’s license revocations usually result from serious criminal/driving offenses, including repeat drunk driving offenses.

Suspended licenses often have a starting and ending point, and driver’s license reinstatement is often rather easy – wait until eligible, pay a reinstatement fee, and return to the road. Driver’s licenses that have been revoked are much different – there’s no ending point (only an eligibility date), and typically the license reinstatement is very difficult. You must accumulate paperwork, submit it to the Secretary of State, and then you must testify in front of a Hearing Judge to prove you deserve your license back.

Was Your License Suspended or Revoked? Everything You Need to Know Here:

drivers license reinstatement ann arbor michigan

If you’re looking for a
driver’s license reinstatement in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the first question you need to answer is whether your license was suspended or revoked. You may need to take a trip to Secretary of State to order your Master Driving Record just to be sure. If it was suspended, you probably won’t need an attorney to help reinstate it.

If it was revoked, you definitely want to consult with a driver’s license reinstatement specialist to help. You should ask these questions of potential attorneys:

  • “How can you help me with a driver’s license reinstatement?”
  • “Will you look at my Michigan Driving Record free of charge to see if you can help?”
  • “Are you a license reinstatement specialist?”
  • “How many license reinstatements have you won this month, or this year?”
