Did You Hear That The Michigan Secretary of State Now Requires New Forms For Driver’s License Appeals?

Driver’s License Reinstated in Michigan

If a person applies using the old forms, he or she might have his or her application rejected or significantly delayed. If the OHAO Hearing Officer is so inclined, they could deny your request just because the current forms weren’t utilized. The driver’s license appeals process is complicated and difficult to navigate, especially for people who are not experienced with it.  In fact, many attorneys who only “dabble” in license restoration cases don’t keep up with the changes in forms (or rules/procedures).  That can end up resulting in a terrible outcome for clients who are desperate to get back on the road lawfully.

Effective August 2021, The Michigan Secretary of State Requires New Forms for Driver’s License Appeals

The Michigan Secretary of State has a specific division which governs driver’s license revocation appeals. This division has undergone several name changes in the last decade – currently it’s called the Office of Hearings and Administrative Oversight (OHAO) but was previously known as the Administrative Hearing Section (AHS), and before that as Driver’s Assessment and Appeal Division (DAAD), and before that as Driver’s License Appeals Division (DLAD). Just as it changes names frequently, the Division often changes the forms and requirements a person must complete to have a driver’s license appeal hearing.
